Our Achievements

Bangladesh Water Development Board has been playing an important role in the socio-economic development of the area. Crop production has increased tremendously through regular operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of various irrigation canals and other irrigation structures of the GK Irrigation Project located in the area by Chuadanga O&M Division, which has ensured food security in the country. Recently, the work of Bhairab river re-excavation project promised by Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been completed in Meherpur district. The lives of the people of the area have been protected from the erosion of the river by constructing river protection works at different places of the Mathabhanga river. Besides, Bangladesh Water Development Board has re-excavated various rivers and canals (Bhairab River, Kumar River, Noboganga River, Chitra River, Korotoa River Naukar khal etc) to improve the drainage system in the area. Above all, the development of irrigation systems, re-excavation of rivers and canals and the completion of protective measures to prevent river erosion have resulted in increased fish production, increased crop production, improved drainage system, improved human quality of life, and increased economic transactions.
